STD Treatment

Many STDs / STIs are curable. Even those which are not, such as HIV and genital herpes, have treatments which control or suppress the infection.

At Prudence Family Clinic, STD consultations and treatments are conducted privately and discreetly. Our philosophy is timely screening and cost-effective treatments when warranted. Contact tracing, screening, treatments and counselling can also be provided in a sensitive and thoughtful manner.

A wide range of treatments are available for the following infections:

  • Gonorrhoea
  • Chlamydia
  • Non-specific urethritis ( NSU ), which may include Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum
  • Syphilis
  • Trichomonas
  • Candidiasis
  • Bacterial vaginosis
  • Herpes simplex type 1 ( cold sores )
  • Genital Herpes
  • Genital warts ( ‘cauliflower’ )
  • Molluscum contagiosum
  • Pubic lice ( ‘crabs’ )
It is important to mention your drug allergies and any history of previous ( successful or unsuccessful ) treatments to our doctor.  Patients who are HIV positive may require prolonged or more intensive treatments for their other STDs.  Do highlight your HIV status to our doctor.
